Born and raised in Brooklyn, Lauren attended the School of Visual Arts with a Vice Presidential Academic Scholarship and was awarded a scholarship to study at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She has been a visiting artist at the School of Visual Arts, New School, International Center of Photography and Rochester Institute of Technology. She is a contributor to M, le magazine du Monde, The New York Times, New York Magazine and TIME Magazine among others. In 2012, she was granted a three-year “Compétences et Talents” visa by the Republic of France, allowing her to live and work in Paris on a photographic project of her choice. Her first monograph, The Lovers, compiled the love stories of 50 elderly couples through interviews and photographs made over six years and in multiple countries. Her work is among the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute. She is currently working on her second book.
